Brown was one of nearly 350 seniors who graduated during Thursday’s ceremony, which the school held in front of the campus new administrative building in Victorville. The 19-year-old Brown, who has special needs, said he was overwhelmed with joy to graduate with his class, the 105th in the school’s history, according to Rani Ortega, secretary to VVHS Principal Nancy Noyer. ....

Farmers and ranchers who have dedicated decades to their work were honored at the annual Wharton County Youth Fair Ag Day Banquet, where ag industry members from all over the Gulf Coast region gathered Tuesday. The dinner was held starting at 6 p.m. at WCYFâs Crescent Hall. Keynote speaker and Houston meteorologist Neil Frank spoke on weather trends and climate prediction at the event with an attendance of about 200. The awards were presented by WCYF President Ed Weinheimer and AgriLife Extension Agent Corrie Bowen. âIt was an enjoyable evening, and it was great getting to visit with friends in the local ag industry,â Bowen said. ....

Through the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2021 (CRRSAA), $1.5 million in funds was awarded to WCJC for emergency student aid. CRRSAA is a follow-up to the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act that was passed last spring in response to the pandemic. Since WCJC obtained CARES funding, the college automatically received the CRRSAA funds as well, said WCJC’s Vice President of Planning and Institutional Effectiveness Dr. Amanda Allen. ....
