VULNERABLE patients in a small town have been left bewildered by the decision not to accept repeat prescriptions in the local chemist.
Wolsingham Pharmacy will no longer accept repeat prescription from patients, and asks users to travel to Stanhope to get their prescriptions.
Former Parish Councillor, Maureen Epsly, who is in her 80s and lives in Wolsingham, highlighted the problem patients like her now face.
Mrs Epsly, who requires multiple repeat prescriptions, said: “I have been shielding all year and now I am being asked to put myself at risk by going to Stanhope to take my repeat prescription to the surgery. ....

Cafe and public toilets plan drawn up for park pavilion

Plans have been drawn up to convert a storage building at Wolsingham Park into a cafe and toilets
A PARK pavilion could get a new lease of life as a cafe.
Wolsingham Parish Council wants to convert and extend the pavilion at the town park to form a cafe with a kitchen, serving area and toilets.
The single-storey brick hut, to the south of the park and near St Anne s Centre, is currently used for storage.
In a planning application to Durham County Council, a design, access and heritage statement states: “It is not thought that the proposal will have a negative impact on the asset [and] the scale of the extension is within keeping with the building. ....

Shorter drive for fuel as new petrol station opens in Wolsingham

A NEW petrol station has opened in a rural dale which saves residents a long drive to get fuel.
The new Shell garage, in Wolsingham, Weardale, is the dales second petrol station and opened on Monday February 1.
The petrol station is built on the site of the previous one and will also be home to the new Spar store, which moved there from the village centre.
Durham County Councillor for Weardale, John Shuttleworth said: “It is good to see a new business open, as Wolsingham has been without a petrol filling station for about five years. ....
