Rep. Michelle Steel (CA-48) joined local officials for a tour of the Soka University Super Point of Dispensing (POD) site for a firsthand look at the COVID-19 vaccine distribution in Orange County. The site, which opened in January, was the second Super POD site in the region to open this year. The first is at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, and the two sites have administered almost 400,000 doses of the vaccine to eligible frontline workers and adults aged 65 and older. The sites are part of “Operation Independence,” the county’s plan to complete all COVID-19 vaccinations by July 4, 2021.
Rep. Steel met with the site’s volunteers, which include Orange County Fire Services personnel, local government employees and health care professionals. She was joined by Orange County Fire Authority Division Chief Mike Petro and Orange County Director of Legislative Affairs Peter DeMarco. ....
