A Melbourne real estate agent has narrowly avoided jail time after taking nearly $100,000 out of his agency’s trust account and splurging on luxury cars and private school fees.
MIG Real Estate’s Amit Miglani was sentenced to a community corrections order with conviction for 18 months, requiring 300 hours of unpaid community work, in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
Amit Miglani pleaded guilty, which entitled him to a lower penalty. 
Magistrate Tara Hartnett said she would have sent Miglani to jail, except that he pleaded guilty, which entitled him to a lower penalty.
“This is serious offending,” she said. “It was not offending motivated by need.” ....

A luxury Australian clothing brand is selling fur labelled as raccoon that testing has identified as raccoon dog, an unrelated species which is often mistreated in the international fur trade.
Forensic testing conducted by British textile analysis firm Microtex showed Alexandra Australia is selling coloured fur cuffs made from the fur of raccoon dogs, which are often electrocuted, bludgeoned to death or skinned alive.
