HomeBuilder applicants to get second chance at grant after backflip
Calls for help from hundreds of distraught HomeBuilder applicants who say they unfairly missed out on the lucrative grant due to technical issues have been heeded after a backflip from the Victorian and Queensland state governments.
As first reported by nine.com.au earlier this month, a growing number of applicants thought they had successfully applied for the $15,000-$25,000 Federal Government grant through an online portal.
However, when they attempted to log back into the portal to submit further documents after the April 14 cut-off date, they found there was no record of their accounts. ....

Victorians are being encouraged to back and celebrate their LGBTIQ+ family members and call out harmful stereotypes and discrimination – in a powerful new awareness campaign backed by the Andrews Labor Government.
The Respect Victoria ‘
Pride, Respect, Equality’ campaign launches today to highlight the importance of family support in preventing all forms of family violence and abuse against LGBTIQ+ Victorians.
The campaign includes the real-life stories of Victorian families who love, respect and support each other as a call to action for all of us with LGBTIQ+ loved ones.
In Australia, more than six in 10 LGBTIQ+ people will have experienced family violence, with perpetrators most likely to be parents or siblings. ....

Sage Akouri was attending an all-girls school in Melbourne when, at age 14, they first came out as gay to their strict Lebanese parents  not that they wanted to. 
At the time, Sage was in the early stages of privately exploring their sexuality with a close friend when their father installed a recording device on the home phone, so he could listen back to Sage s calls. ....

Delivering For Victorian LGBTIQ+ Organisations

Funding is now available for organisations and groups who serve Victoria’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and gender diverse, intersex and queer (LGBTIQ+) communities to help them develop and plan for the future.
Minister for Equality Martin Foley today announced that the $500,000 2021
LGBTIQ+ Organisational Development Grants are now open to help improve the services available to LGBTIQ communities.
LGBTIQ+ organisations and groups are able to apply for grants of up to $50,000 to build their capacity, including staff development and training opportunities.
In addition, the grants will help organisations and groups plan for the future, including how they develop their strategic vision, plan for their financial sustainability and build their governance structures. ....
