Timaru’s Michelle Cogger is encouraging others to don their gumboots to raise awareness of depression. Gumboot Friday, this week, is about awareness and solidarity with those suffering depression, who have described it as like struggling to walk through mud in gumboots every day. Last year 175 young people in New Zealand died by suicide and an estimated 3500 attempted to take their own life, according to gumbootfriday.org.nz. I am Hope, the youth arm of The Key to Life Charitable Trust, hosts the event where founder Mike King, and other supporters, walk 100 kilometres in their gumboots around the Auckland Domain for 24 hours. ....
