New Delhi: An Air India Express flight carrying 64 passengers hit an electric pole while landing at Vijayawada International Airport in Gannavaram on Saturday.
All passengers on board the flight and the crew are safe, according to an official statement.
The flight took off from Doha, Qatar at 10.25 am and landed at Vijayawada airport at 4.50 pm.
An investigation into the incident has been orderned by the airline authorities.
“An Air India flight coming from Doha met with a minor accident at Vijayawada International Airport in Gannavaram today. All passengers are safe. When the flight was about to land, its wing hit a light pole. The light pole broke and fell down. The flight wing is slightly damaged. This incident happened at 16.54 IST,” airport ....

VIJAYAWADA: An Air India Express flight coming from Doha as part of the Vande Bharat mission hit an electric pole while landing at the Vijayawada International Airport in Gannavaram, Andhra Pradesh on Saturday. As per the Gannavaram Airport Director s Madhusudan Rao s statement all the 64 passengers and the crew on board the Boeing 737 were safe and the flight wing was slightly damaged.
As per reports the international flight has departed from Doha, the capital of Qatar, to Tiruchirappalli via Vijayawada on Saturday as part of the Vande Bharat Mission. After landing at Vijayawada Airport at 4.49 pm, the plane was on its way from the runway to the parking in the apron when the right wing hit an electricity pole. ....

An Air India Express flight, carrying 64 passengers, lost control and met with an accident in Andhra Pradesh today. The flight hit an electric pole on the runway while landing at Vijayawada International Airport in Gannavaram.
All 64 passengers on board the flight and the crew are safe, airport director G Madhusudan Rao said. TheÂ Air India Express spokesperson informed that the airline has ordered an investigation of the incident.
Earlier on Friday, a flight from Sharjah to Kozhikode with 112 passengers made an emergency landing at the international airport due to a snag in the aircraft. The Air India Express plane developed the snag in the hydraulic system and made the landing at Thiruvananthapuram where the airlines have the base with more technical experts, an airport official said. ....

A minor mishap occurred at the Vijayawada International Airport at Gannavaram when an Air India Express aircraft hit a light pole while taxiing. No passenger or crew member was hurt in the incident.
The international flight (IX1676) which flew in from Doha (Qatar) landed around 5.10 p.m. with about 63 passengers on board. When the aircraft left the runway and was moving to the parking bay where passengers would alight and board a bus to the terminal, its wing hit a huge light pole on its right side as an acute turn was made. ....
