GAITHERSBURG, Md., April 8, 2021 /3BL Media/ - Sodexo, a leader in food service and facilities management, announced today the company’s use of an automated food waste tracking system, WasteWatch powered by Leanpath, to reduce food waste amid the COVID-19 pandemic, specifically at Vidant Medical Center in eastern North Carolina.
“As a result of COVID-19, our customer base dropped dramatically almost overnight,” says Troy Sheppard, Food & Nutrition Service Line Administrator and Client Executive with Sodexo. Increased staffing demands created further challenges, as self-serve area food lines were converted to staffed stations and heightened sanitation protocols took up more labor time. Have a written infant feeding policy that is routinely communicated to staff and parents.
Establish ongoing monitoring and data-management systems.
Ensure that staff have sufficient knowledge, competence and skills to support breastfeeding.
Discuss the importance and management of breastfeeding with pregnant women and their families.
Facilitate immediate and uninterrupted skin-to-skin contact and support mothers to initiate breastfeeding as soon as possible after birth.
Support mothers to initiate and maintain breastfeeding and manage common difficulties.
Do not provide breastfed newborns any food or fluids other than breast milk, unless medically indicated.
Enable mothers and their infants to remain together and to practice rooming-in 24 hours a day. ....
