In recent months she created a digital image piece, What Matters Most Is In This Room, that explores how families lived through the year when COVID-19 changed everyone s lives.
A man-and-wife couple facing each other is at the center of Bottrell s image, flanked by two young girls facing the viewer. One of the parents is present only in silhouette form: Instead of containing human features, the space where the man s body should be is replaced by a black sky swirling with galaxies and stars.
