As part of a nearly $9,000 donation, the Middletown and Devon stations chose two local organizations to support: St. Vincent de Paul Place of Middletown and Boys & Girls Village of Milford, both of which are helping to care for/feed the vulnerable this holiday season, according to a press release.

(Shutterstock) MIDDLETOWN, CT St. Vincent de Paul Middletown was awarded $550 from Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundation s Community Spirit 9/11 Mini-Grant program, officials announced Tuesday. Steven Esteves, an employee of Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, nominated the organization for the award. Funds will be used to purchase food for families during the holiday season to help the organization reach their goal of serving over 1,000 families per month. To commemorate those Harvard Pilgrim members who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, Harvard Pilgrim and the Foundation created the Community Spirit 9/11 Mini-Grant program. The program allows each Harvard Pilgrim employee to award a $500 grant, completely funded by the Foundation, to the local charity of his or her choice each calendar year.
