President Kristina M. Johnson sent the following email to The Ohio State University community today (March 4).
Dear Students, Faculty and Staff:
We have now reached the midpoint of spring semester, and our work together to slow the spread of COVID-19 continues to make me proud. The most recent report from the university’s Comprehensive Monitoring Team (CMT) shows that our collective efforts to wear masks, physically distance, practice good hygiene and avoid large gatherings are working. The lessons we learned through the fall have also positioned us better to quickly identify trends going in the wrong direction and address them. ....

Ohio State students will be tested for COVID-19 twice per week
The testing will be required of students who live on-and-off-campus in Columbus for the next few weeks, starting on April 5.

Students at the Ohio State University will be tested for COVID-19 twice per week, according to an email President Kristina Johnson sent to the university community.
The testing will be required of students who live on-and-off-campus in Columbus for the next few weeks, starting on April 5.
Johnson cited the several COVID-19 variants, which are becoming the dominant strains at Ohio State, as a reason for the increased testing. ....

Cautiously optimistic, Ohio State’s COVID monitoring team builds on fall’s lessons
New variants, complacency remain top concerns
Encouraged by low positivity rates and other COVID-19 trends so far this semester, the leaders of Ohio State’s Comprehensive Monitoring Team call for continued vigilance in a new report that recaps lessons learned in the fall, highlights advances made for the spring and serves as a reminder of ongoing threats, including emerging new viral variants.
The report, the second from the team, comes as the university looks toward fall and makes plans to return to a more traditional on-campus experience for students, faculty and staff. ....

University updates top-rated COVID-19 dashboard
Enhancements include significantly expanded available testing data
The Ohio State University
The Ohio State University’s COVID-19 dashboard, which provides a regularly updated status on the virus across Ohio and within the campus community, has been enhanced to make it more user-friendly while offering a complete picture of cases and positivity rates dating back to the beginning of the university’s testing program.
With this new version of the dashboard, users will be able to view the data going back to the 2020 fall semester as well as the most up-to-date numbers for the 2021 spring semester. The previous version showed the most recent 20 days of testing data. Ohio State’s COVID-19 dashboard has been recognized by “We Rate Covid Dashboards” with an A+ grade. ....
