Rocky Mountain Power announces new grants to support Utah, Wyoming and Idaho communities this spring
SALT LAKE CITY (May 10, 2021) Even as COVID-19 vaccines roll out across the country, many communities are still facing challenges from the pandemic and the organizations that support them are still seeing unprecedented demand.
In spite of the odds, local programs that address critical issues such as food insecurity, homelessness, domestic violence, child abuse, elder issues, mental health and community safety have continued to find creative new ways to deliver help quickly and safely, even while facing additional budget constraints.
As part of the company’s commitment to supporting its communities, PacifiCorp Foundation, a nonprofit arm of Rocky Mountain Power, is donating more than $525,000 across the six states it serves. HB365 would start the process to join the two agencies into a Department of Health and Human Services in July 2022. The agencies would form a merger plan to present to the Legislature by December.
Bill sponsor Rep. Paul Ray, R-Clearfield, said the move is needed because there s a lot of redundancy in the way we do things here.
We feel that the best way to be more efficient and effective as we deliver services to the public is to combine these two agencies together and try to break down the silos and get the communication going so people aren t going to two, three, four different places to get services, Ray told members of the House Health and Human Services Committee on Thursday. ....
