A Place to Meet Again designed with upcycled elements by Mike Long

There seemed to be more new, younger garden designers creating the Hampton Court show gardens this year, possibly as the stalwarts did not want to risk spending time on a show that faced possible cancellation.
A Place to Meet Again, used many upcycled elements imaginatively – but the feel was slick, not shabby.
He laid RSJs (rolled steel joists) over a rill and filled them with brick paving to create a bridge, scaffold pipes formed the horizontals on a pergola, one huge section of concrete pipe formed an upright circular seat and another framed a water feature. I like the way Mike used the space, breaking it up into separate areas by changing levels and the planting.
Hampton Garden Festival review: as richly planted as ever, but understated in ambition
