PACC offering $0 adoptions for adult pets this month

TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - Pets 4 months or older will have a $0 adoption fee, thanks to a new adoption promotion at Pima Animal Care Center.
The $20 licensing fee per adopted dog that cannot be waived. Kittens and puppies will still cost $50 each. The sale starts April 19 and continues through April 30.
“Summertime is a busy time at PACC,” said Monica Dangler, Interim Director of Animal Services. “We are seeing an increase in strays, kittens, and pets in need of medical care for injuries and illnesses. Our shelter starts to get busy in the spring time, and it doesn’t slow down until the fall, so we encourage anyone thinking of adopting a pet to take advantage of this great promotion.” ....

San Marcos Mayor Signs Disaster Declaration & Public Urged To Avoid Travel – Corridor News

With additional wintry precipitation expected later today and throughout the weekend that may make road conditions even more hazardous for motorists, Mayor Jane Hughson signed a Declaration of Local State of Disaster today that will be in effect for seven days unless continued by the City Council or terminated due to improved conditions.
Since temperatures are forecast to be below freezing for several days, the City recommends the public stay off of roads as much as possible or use extreme caution if driving is unavoidable.
Despite continued efforts to pre-treat roads with de-icing solution and sand by both City and TxDOT crews, precipitation continues to freeze and makes traveling very dangerous. ....

SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash.

Spokane County Regional Animal Protection Service (SCRAPS) seized 40 animals, including horses and cows, during an animal cruelty investigation.
SCRAPS executed a search-and-seizure warrant at a property in southwest Spokane County on Feb. 10-11, seizing 24 full-size horses, eight miniature horses, five cows and three miniature cows, according to a press release.
The animals living conditions were deplorable and their bodies bear the consequences of prolonged neglect, SCRAPS said in the release. Bodies of deceased horses and cows, which resident dogs were allowed to fee ....
