Bradford on Avon Rotary Club donates £2,000 to Bath Cancer Unit Support Group

Generous members of the Bradford on Avon Rotary Club have donated £2,000 to the Bath Cancer Unit Support Group and have pledged thousands more.
Last year’s Rotary club president, Steve Adams, nominated the BCUSG, which funds vital medical equipment for the cancer unit at Bath’s Royal United Hospital, as his charity for the year.
The donation, which was unanimously approved by members, was raised despite a challenging year.
Because of the lack of fundraising events during the pandemic, many local Rotarians donated their weekly meal costs - which they would have spent if meeting in person - to the club’s charity account. ....

No increase for next Stratton tax precept despite impact of pandemic

THE council tax precept for Swindon’s biggest parish will not increase next year despite the pressures of the pandemic.
Councillors from Stratton St Margaret made a successful effort to balance the books while managing the impact of the coronavirus crisis and keep the budget level so that people living in the area would not face a higher bill during this difficult time.
Coun Barrie Jennings is the chair of the finance committee and made the recommendation to do all they could to avoid increasing the precept.
He suggested that due to the amount of properties in Stratton increasing over the last year while the precept is set to remain the same at £1,369,964, the cost needing to be paid by each Band D household for 2021/2022 will actually drop by 1.1 per cent. ....
