Workshops to improve volunteering in Wiltshire being run this month

THREE workshops aimed at improving volunteering in Wiltshire are being run this month by Wessex Community Action.
The charity, which supports the voluntary sector all over the county with workshops and training, wants to help groups capitalise on the new enthusiasm for volunteering generated by the pandemic, which saw hundreds of people in Wiltshire step forward to help their communities by collecting prescriptions, delivering shopping and making befriending calls.
On June 17 an online workshop for volunteer managers and volunteers will discuss how volunteer passports could be organised, how they could make it easier to connect organisations with people willing to give up their time to help and record achievements and recognise contribution made. ....

Wiltshire Together praised for supporting volunteer groups

MPs and community workers have praised an online platform that connects and promotes voluntary groups with supporters, volunteers and people needing help.
Wiltshire Together was launched by Salisbury-based Wessex Community Action in October using a grant from the National Lottery and already has more than 200 groups and individuals signed up as members.
Wessex Community Action chief executive Amber Skyring said the platform is an important tool for charity groups in the wake of the pandemic. “Although the site was created by us, it is completely independent and run by the members,” she said.
“I am so pleased that so many have already joined and are taking advantage of Wiltshire Together. Members can connect with one another and share information easily which helps them pool resources and learn from one another at a time when groups are still recovering from the last nine months.” ....
