Dean H. Lewis


The Rev. Dean H. Lewis died on June 14, 2021, in Santa Fe, New Mexico at the age of 94. Born September 6, 1926, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Samuel T. Lewis and Pharis Haynes, he grew up in Harrisonville, Missouri. He entered the Naval Air Force in 1944 upon graduation as Valedictorian from high school and was discharged as an Aviation Radar Technician 2nd Class. He graduated from William Jewell College as President of the Centennial Senior Class of 1949, having been selected as one of five members of the Aeons Honor Society, and won national recognition in debate and extemporaneous discussion. After graduation from Yale Divinity School in 1953, where he was awarded the Mersick Prize in Preaching, he was ordained to the Ministry of the Presbyterian Church USA and installed as Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Springdale, Arkansas. KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Data shows young adults in the Kansas City-area are lagging behind older generations when it comes to getting the COVID-19 vaccine.
Age groups 18-24 and 25-34 have vaccination rates around 30%, the lowest among adults in Wyandotte County.
We are currently conducting focus groups with people who have not been vaccinated and who are either undecided or do not want the vaccine, to help us better understand vaccine hesitancy in our county, a Wyandotte health department spokesperson wrote in an email to 41 Action News. ....

Harriman-Jewell Series Returns To In-Person Performances This Fall Across The Kansas City Metro


This season marks the 57
th season for the Harriman-Jewell Series and a return to in-person audiences in Kansas City area venues from downtown Kansas City, Missouri, to Overland Park, Kansas.
The Harriman-Jewell Series Tuesday announced it will open its 2021-2022 season in October, including live performances rescheduled from previous seasons.
Like many arts organizations, the series canceled in-person performances during the coronavirus pandemic.
