Gilas Pilipinas infuses more youth to pool

The youth movement continues for Gilas Pilipinas after it added more amateur players to its pool, with the national team planning to go all cadets in major international tournaments slated in the middle of 2021.
According to a list provided by Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas special assistant to the president Ryan Gregorio, Gilas Pilipinas welcomed 12 new players to its pool, as a total of 19 players entered the Inspire Sports Academy in Laguna on Monday, March 15, to start their training camp.
Out of the 12 new players, 10 are amateurs, including Ateneo standouts LeBron Lopez, SJ Belangel, Gian Mamuyac, Troy Mallillin, Geo Chiu, Jason Credo, Josh Lazaro, and Kyle Ong.

TOKYO Olympics-bound boxer Irish Magno is looking to make up for lost time as her preparation for the Games was disrupted by the coronavirus last year.
Speaking on Tiebreaker Vodsâ So She Did! podcast from their training âbubbleâ at INSPIRE Sports Academy in Laguna on Sunday, Ms. Magno said it was a welcome development to return to face-to-face training after months of settling for virtual and individual workouts since various quarantine setups prohibited close contacts.
