BMW's 2022 iX xDrive50 Is A Big Electric SUV That'll Cost You At Least $83,200

In the first quarter of 2022, the BMW iX xDrive50 will land on U.S. shores as the sole variant of the automaker’s electric ‘Sports Activity Vehicle’ (SAV) series – for now, at least.
Newly-announced details confirm that U.S.-spec models come outfitted with a front electric motor producing 268 hp and 260 lb-ft (352 Nm) of torque and a rear electric motor with 335 hp and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque. These motors combine to pump out 516 hp and 564 lb-ft (764 Nm) of torque and get their power from a 106.3 kWh battery pack.
BMW quotes a 0-62 mph (100 km/h) time of 4.6 seconds and a 124 mph (200 km/h) top speed. The iX xDrive50 has an EPA-estimated range of 300 miles (482 km). ....

BMW's First M-Badged EV Is Among Three New Models

The platform for the three was built with internal combustion, plug-in hybrid, and electric drivetrains in mind.
Despite not requiring as much cooling air flow, the i4 pair still sport the massive nostrils of the regular BMW 4-Series.
Of the 16 models and 47 trim packages BMW currently offers, only one, the diminutive i3, is pure electric. That will change early next year with the addition of three new BMW all-electric i models: the i4 eDrive40, iX xDrive50, and the very promising performance i4 M50, all scheduled for availability March of 2022.

BMW has launched the BMW i4 and BMW iX. (Earlier post.) The BMW iX is the BMW Group’s new technology flagship, offering a new take on the Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) concept.
The BMW iX will be launched with a choice of two model variants. Both are equipped with an electric all-wheel-drive system, with combined output of 385 kW/523 hp in the BMW iX xDrive50 (electric power consumption combined in the WLTP cycle: 23.0 – 19.8 kWh/100 km) and 240 kW/326 hp in the BMW iX xDrive40 (electric power consumption combined in the WLTP cycle: 22.5 – 19.4 kWh/100 km).
The drive technology’s efficiency paired to the latest battery cell technology results in WLTP-calculated ranges of up to 630 kilometers (391 miles) in the BMW iX xDrive50 and up to 425 kilometers (264 miles) in the BMW iX xDrive40. ....
