Nuku Ora Honoured As Finalist For COVID-19 Response Award

Nuku Ora, formerly Sport Wellington, has recently been
named as a finalist in the COVID-19 response category at the
New Zealand Sport and Recreation Awards 2021.
“We
know that Lockdown had a huge effect on people’s ability
to get active,” said Nuku Ora CEO Phil Gibbons. “We also
know that for many, finding ways to get active was an
important part of their lockdown routine.”
To help
people stay active during lockdown, Nuku Ora adjusted the
delivery of their Green Prescription and other health and
wellbeing programmes, making use of innovative and creative

Physical inactivity costs the Wellington region at least $141m per year on average. Across the region, two in four adults and 42% of young people are not doing enough physical activity, as per the Ministry of Health’s physical activity guidelines.
To combat this, Sport Wellington, the independent body for physical activity in the greater Wellington region, recently launched a new 12-year strategy which focuses on improving the wellbeing of communities across the region through physical activity and the importance of taking an equitable and holistic approach in doing so. They have also announced a new name and identity which better aligns with this focus and the purpose expressed in their Charitable Trust deed. ....

Merchandise for this year’s Brendan Foot Supersite
Round the Bays will be made from recycled plastic bottles as
part of Sport Wellington’s Sustainable Event Policy,
announced in 2019, which pledges to make the iconic
Wellington event waste and carbon-free by 2025.

of this year’s Dynasty merchandise and the Volunteer
tee’s will be made from a sustainable performance yarn
made from recycled plastic,” said Dynasty Sport Director
