WICHITA FALLS, Texas (TNN) - United Supermarkets and Market Street donated 4,200 pounds of apples to the Wichita Falls Area Food Bank on Wednesday as part of the Take a Bite Out of Hunger program.
The donation marks the 11th year of a continuing commitment by United Supermarkets and Market Street as original partners of the “Take a Bite Out of Hunger” program.
“Produce is something that often people in our community can’t afford so it’s a luxury item,” said Kara Nickens, CEO of the WFAFB. “It’s great that people can have some healthy food that a lot of us take for granted.” ....

South Plains Food Bank received 7,000 lbs.
In the first 10 years of the Take a Bite Out of Hunger™ program, United Family stores have donated more than 500,000 pounds of apples and fed more than 167,000 families. Now in the eleventh year, the company continues to add to that total. (Source: United Family)

LUBBOCK, Texas (NEWS RELEASE) - On Wednesday, United Supermarkets, Market Street and Amigos donated 7,000 pounds of apples to the South Plains Food Bank as part of the Take a Bite Out of Hunger™ program. This donation was part of a larger donation of more than 39,000 pounds of apples across Texas and New Mexico. ....

WICHITA FALLS, Texas (TNN) - The WF Area Food Bank announced it will remain closed Friday due to the road conditions.
Organizers reported on their Facebook page there will be an emergency food distribution on Saturday, Feb. 20.
Those in need are asked to visit their facility at 1230 Midwestern Parkway. A box of food and produce will be passed out at this location from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until supplies last.
