Farmers protest news: Farm leaders busy, harvest season, heat: Why crowd has thinned out at UP Gate | Ghaziabad News


GHAZIABAD: For the past 90 days, Devendra Singh from Gurdwara Nanakpuri Tanda Sahib has been managing the kitchen for protesting farmers at UP Gate. Earlier, the protest site used to be dotted with langars, with people standing in long queues to receive food.
Now, there aren’t many takers and the ration requirements have come down significantly as the Ghazipur border protest site has thinned out. “There are fewer people to feed. Besides, we can’t store cooked food in this season as it will get spoiled,” said Singh.
The advent of warm weather, the practical difficulties of staying away from their farms for weeks and a hectic travel schedule that has kept away Rakesh Tikait, the BKU leader who has been leading the protest here, have all contributed to an empty look to one of the three largest rallying points for farmers opposed to the new central laws. ....

New Delhi: Farmers protesting the Centre s three new farm laws on Saturday blocked the six-lane Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway at some places in Haryana to mark the completion of 100 days of their agitation at the Delhi borders.
The call for blocking the expressway, which is also known as the Western Peripheral Expressway, was given by the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), an umbrella body of protesting farmer unions that is spearheading the agitation against the new farm legislation. Farmers, labourers to throng rail tracks on March 13: BKU
Farmer leader Darshan Pal Singh on Saturday informed that a nationwide agitation against corporatisation and privatisation would be held on March 13 where farmers and labourers would throng the railway lines and agitate there. This is our next move to intensify the ongoing protest, said Pal, who is the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) Spokesperson. Pal was present at the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway which was blocked by thousands of farmers on Saturday to mark 100 days of the protest.
