The rift within the farmers groups surfaced as two groups pulled out of the protest against the Centre s three farm laws today a day after the unprecedented violence during the Republic Day tractor rally. We can t carry forward a protest with someone whose direction is something else, said VM Singh of the Kisan Sangharsh Committee. A faction of the Bharatiya Kisan Union also dissociated itself from the movement. Farmers groups have alleged a conspiracy to torpedo their peaceful movement. Over 300 police personnel were injured in Tuesday s violence and 22 cases have been registered, Delhi Police said. The farmers are planning a march to parliament on February 1, when the budget will be presented. ....

Thousands of  farmers protesting against the farm laws on Tuesday overwhelmed the police and stormed into the historic Red Fort complex in New Delhi after tearing down barricades and driving tractors through roadblocks. Police fired tear gas in an unsuccessful bid to force the protesters back. One protester was killed and the Delhi police said 86 officers had been injured across the city.
In one shocking video shared by news agency ANI, around a dozen police and paramilitary personnel can be seen forced to jump over a 15-foot wall at the Red Fort complex to escape a mob. In the video, the police personnel are seen being thrashed with lathis and sticks, and backed against the edge of a rampart. ....

Tractor rally on Republic Day turns violent
Following the violent clashes between the police and the farmers in Delhi on Republic Day, the Delhi Police have filed 22 cases. The police also said that over 300 policemen were injured during the clashes that were the culmination of two months of protests against the newly introduced farm laws. The Delhi Police also said that eight buses and 17 private vehicles were vandalised during the violence.  ....

Farmers break barricades at Delhi borders to begin Republic Day tractor rally

Chaos unfolded at Singhu, Tikri and Ghazipur border points on Tuesday after groups of farmers, agitating against the contentious farm laws for over two months now, broke police barricades and forced their way into Delhi. The police used tear gas at Ghaziabad border and resorted to lathicharge at Singhu to disperse the farmers, who were expected to hold their tractor rally after the conclusion of the Republic Day parade at the Rajpath.
The farmers were seen marching on foot as well as on tractors even as security personnel tried to convince them to stick to the decided plan of the tractor parade. The Delhi Police allowed the proposed Republic Day tractor parade with 37 conditions, including capping the number of participants and allocating a fixed time slot. ....
