Two homebuilding companies are teaming up on a major residential community northeast of Dallas.
Plano-based Green Brick Partners Inc. and builder Meritage Homes have purchased sites for more than 1,800 houses in the Collin County town of Farmersville.
Located northeast of Lake Lavon, the area around Farmersville is seeing an influx of land developers looking for new home sites.
Green Brick Partners and Meritage plan to start construction early next year on the 453-acre property they just purchased south of U.S. Highway 380. ....

AUSTIN — The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission approved $2.84 million dollars in grants to fund 18 motorized and non-motorized recreational trail-related projects across the state.
In Palo Pinto County, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Division is the recipient of a $200,000 grant for the Palo Pinto Mountains State Park Trails Phase 2. The project includes construction of approximately six miles of natural surface multi-use trail for activities such as hiking, equestrian and mountain biking.
The National Recreational Trails Fund funds recreational trail construction, renovation and acquisition. The grants are funded from a portion of the federal gas tax generated by gasoline purchases for off-road motorcycles and four-wheelers. Thirty percent of the total NRTF grants must be earmarked for motorized recreational trails, while another 30 percent must be spent on non-motorized trail projects. The remaining 40 percent is discretionary. ....

FORT WORTH (BP) Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary used its annual report to the Southern Baptist Convention to assert former President Paige Patterson “improperly removed” documents and other items that belong to the seminary after his firing in 2018.
In an interview with Baptist Press, Patterson denied the allegations the seminary made in the 2021 SBC Book of Reports. He also denied he and others have a to divert donations away from the seminary to the Sandy Creek Foundation, his personal nonprofit organization.
In a statement to Baptist Press, Adam W. Greenway, who succeeded Patterson as Southwestern’s president, asserted: “Southwestern Seminary has told the truth.” ....
