Drivers warned to fuel up before prices rise again

An RACQ spokesperson has spoken out a “spike” in fuel prices around Central Queensland.
According to the RACQ’s Vivien O’Connor, some fuel companies pushed up unleaded petrol (ULP) and diesel prices to 129.9 cents per litre (cpl).
The latest average price of ULP in Rockhampton is 123.4cpl and the latest average in Gladstone is 117cpl.
In Gladstone the average has jumped by more than 4cpl in seven days and 40 per cent of the market is now charging a high price of 129.9cpl.
In Rockhampton, 70 per cent of sites have priced petrol at 129.7cpl or 129.9cpl.
“This jump is due to global oil prices rising and a reflection of the Terminal Gate Price and is now filtering through to the pump,” Ms O’Connor said. ....

Coast's cheap petrol prices not expected to last | Sunshine Coast Daily

RACQ spokesman Vivien O Connor said drivers were spending anywhere from 109.7c to 151.9c over the Christmas holidays but the region was now in the cheap phase of the price cycle.
Motorists on the Sunshine Coast should fill up the tank now and aim for 116 cents per litre for unleaded, she said.
About 35 per cent of sites are selling unleaded for 116 cents per litre or less and 10.9 per cent of sites are selling unleaded for 110c cents per litre or less.
Most sites in Caloundra and Noosa are selling for 117c or 118c, while others are charging as much as 123c. ....

Jaw-dropping fuel price change for Gympie in year of COVID

Gympie saw a sizeable plummet in annual average fuel prices in a “tumultuous” year at the bowsers due to COVID-19.
The RACQ’s Annual Fuel Price Report revealed drivers in most regional Queensland centres paid less at the pump in 2020 than those in the south east.
The average annual price for fuel in Gympie for 2020 was shown to be 120.4 cents per litre, way down on the 2019 average of 136.8cpl.

Gladstone was the cheapest place to get fuel in Central Queensland in 2020.
The port city was listed in the top five towns which had the cheapest fuel in 2020 throughout regional Queensland.
Data released from RACQ this week revealed which regional towns had the cheapest fuel, and Miles and Bundaberg took the top spots.
RACQ spokeswoman Vivien O’Connor said global tensions and the impacts of the pandemic led to some of the cheapest fuel in Queensland with prices dropping by 40 cents per litre (cpl) in most regional centres in the first six months of the year.
“In April and May, motorists were left rubbing their eyes with the return of fuel for less than $1 – the cheapest we’ve seen in 11 years,” Ms O’Connor said. ....
