The College of DuPage Office of Admissions and Outreach is hosting Enroll @ COD Live Zoom sessions to help students navigate the enrollment process through Friday, Feb. 5. Visit the Enroll @ COD Live webpage for session links.
Sessions will be held 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Mondays, Jan. 25 and Feb. 1; 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays, Jan. 19 to Feb. 2; noon to 3 p.m. Wednesdays, Jan. 20 to Feb. 3; 3 to 6 p.m. Thursdays, Jan. 21 to Feb. 4; 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Fridays, Jan. 22 and Feb. 5; and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays, Jan. 16 to 30. ....

Carol Stream man accused of wielding hatchet in Wheaton robbery

A 32-year-old Carol Stream has been charged with robbing a Wheaton drugstore while wielding a hatchet.
Bail was set Tuesday at $300,000 for Jason Zell, of the 500 block of Gunderson Drive.
 
He is charged with armed robbery with a dangerous weapon, a felony punishable by six to 30 years in prison.
Zell is accused of robbing the Walgreens store at 1601 N. Main St. around 8:50 p.m. Saturday. Police say he selected an item and approached the clerk who was working at the front cash register. When the register drawer opened, Zell jumped on top of the counter, pulled out a hatchet, put the hatchet on the counter, reached around a plastic barrier and took money from the drawer. ....

DuPage closing COVID-19 testing site at the county fairgrounds

A COVID-19 testing site at the DuPage County Fairgrounds will close by the end of the month, while another testing facility in Villa Park will continue operating.
The drive-through testing site in Wheaton is shutting down to provide additional support for mass vaccination efforts as the county health department prepares for the next wave of inoculations.
 
The county remains in Phase 1a of the vaccine rollout, delivering first and second doses of COVID-19 vaccine to health care personnel. As of Tuesday, 43,935 vaccine doses have been administered in DuPage, Illinois Department of Public Health figures show. Nearly 12,000 people are fully vaccinated, or almost 1.3% of the county s population. ....

It is an understatement to say that 2020 was one of the more difficult years in recent memory for most Americans. Yet, if history teaches us anything, it is that we can gain perspective by looking at the past to learn from previous arduous times.
With that in mind, the Elmhurst History Museum looks back to one of the most difficult times in U.S. history through the many challenges faced and changes brought on by the Great Depression in the 1930s. ....
