PUEBLO — The snow isn t stopping Pueblo s community members from trying to protect the city s homeless, as freezing temperatures threaten their livelihood.
‘We know the weather’s cold. We’re out here trying to make sure that they’re out here and have what they needs, so they can stay warm stay fed, said Camelia Peterson, Founder of Blanket the City for Pueblo and Pueblo West. ....

Homelessness continues to plague the streets of Rutherford County and the numbers of those who lack a place to call home are getting older. Ed Grimes with the Murfreesboro Rescue Mission told WGNS NEWS…
U.S. Census numbers for Rutherford County show that 10.8% of our residents are 65-years of age or older. That causes concern for non-profits that work to help those who face homelessness because increased age equals increased needs for medical care.  
Grimes commented that Murfreesboro has yet to see their homeless population sore to the heights of skid row, but that could change… ....

VALPARAISO — Just a couple of months after having no other option than to offer tents and sleeping bags to some of the area s homeless seeking shelter, Housing Opportunities has added a few more beds to provide more relief from the cold.
Ten beds, spaced and shielded appropriately to provide protection during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, have been set up on the lower level of the shelter at 2001 N. Calumet Ave., said Housing Opportunities CEO Jordan Stanfill. ....

Weather: Warnings issued for rough sleepers after Arctic blast hits northern Europe


Aid workers are warning that the sharp drop in temperatures across parts of northern Europe this month has put homeless people at serious risk.
German homeless aid group BAGW said Friday that four people have been found frozen to death since a blast of Arctic air brought freezing temperatures and heavy snowfall to much of the country last week.
Authorities in the southern city of Nuremberg said a homeless woman was found with a newborn baby in minus 15 Celsius (5 degrees Fahrenheit) temperatures early Friday. A police patrol spotted the 20-year-old woman, a companion and the infant on a ventilation grate outside a subway station. Mother and child were taken to a hospital to warm up and for observation, the DPA news agency reported. ....
