Conservative MP Robert Halfon: "The government can't say there's no money for education"

Conservative MP Robert Halfon: “The government can’t say there’s no money for education”
The chair of the Education Select Committee discusses how to solve the schools crisis.
I decided I would become an MP aged 12, so I was a very strange child,” laughs Robert Halfon. “An MP came to my school and said the House of Commons had a thousand rooms, and I didn’t believe it and said I wanted to go. I decided on that day that the place was so amazing I was going to become an MP.”
Halfon, 52, has been the Conservative MP for Harlow, Essex, since 2010 – a former bellwether seat that has now become a Tory stronghold. Education is his mission: he briefly served as skills minister in Theresa May’s government, and has chaired the House of Commons Education Select Committee since July 2017. ....

Tory MP: No Govt Cash for Groups Pushing 'White Privilege' Myth

19 Apr 2021
Charities and institutions in Britain which promote the leftist idea of ‘white privilege’ should be blocked from receiving taxpayer support, a leading Tory MP has said.
A parliamentary group studying the reasons for white working-class children falling behind other ethnic groups will reportedly demand that the government stop propping up left-wing attacks on the white British population.
Conservative MP Tom Hunt told the
Sunday Express that he would call for the recommendation to be included in the House of Commons Education Select Committee’s upcoming report on the issues facing poorer white communities.
“There are various reasons why working-class children are lagging behind but terms like white privilege are incredibly unhelpful and make them feel even more excluded from the education system,” Hunt said. ....

'Soviet Indoctrination' – Teach White Privilege to Toddlers, Unions Demand

5 Apr 2021
Lessons on so-called “white privilege” are needed to combat “racial prejudice” within children, according to new guidance drawn up by a group of education charities and unions.
The guidance came in the form of a 128-page paper entitled ‘Birth to 5 Matters from the Early Years Coalition’, which was developed over the past six months by representatives from the National Education Union (NEU), the National Day Nurseries Association, and the Association for Professional Development in Early Years.
The paper claimed that “talking about race is a first step in countering racism. It is a mistaken assumption that treating all people in the same way and ignoring differences in race is a sufficient response to racism. ....
