UAB season ends with cancelation of Gasparilla Bowl

The UAB football team will end its 2020 season with a conference championship.
Despite accepting an invitation to its fourth straight bowl game, the Blazers (6-3, 4-1 C-USA) end their season following the cancelation of the 2020 Home Union Mortgage Gasparilla Bowl, Saturday, Dec. 26, at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.
AL.com’s John Talty confirmed the news that the bowl was canceled. Stadium’s Brett McMurphy was the first to report.
Gasparilla Bowl executive director Scott Glaser released the following statement:
“The current environment has presented many challenges. We looked into a number of options for UAB, but ultimately could not identify any opportunities for them to play at this time. We are appreciative of the many supporters in the community, including our new title sponsor – Union Home Mortgage, and look forward to staging the game in 20 ....
