Household Cavalry Regiments soldiers help to clear test backlog at Manston in Kent


SOLDIERS from the Wiltshire based Household Cavalry Regiment have spent two weeks in Kent helping to clear a backlog of lorry drivers and hauliers bound for continental Europe.
A total of 26 soldiers from the regiment travelled from their home at Ward Barracks in Bulford to the former Second World War Royal Air Force fighter base at Manston to support the Department of Transport conducting Covid-19 tests on the drivers as part of on Operation ROSE.
The vast expanse of runway now serves as a location for the many thousands of Europe-bound lorry drivers to call into and get themselves checked for Covid-19 before heading off to the nearby channel ports and across to France. ....

Fears Harry will be target in Iraq

Prince Harry is to be deployed to Iraq for a six-month tour of duty, prompting fears he could become a prime target for insurgents.
The 22-year-old prince, who is third in line to the throne, becomes the first senior royal to serve on the front line since his uncle, Prince Andrew, served in the Falklands conflict in 1982. His Blues and Royals regiment will be deployed as part of a long-planned rotation of troops.
The announcement, confirmed jointly by the Ministry of Defence and Clarence House, comes 24 hours after Prime Minister Tony Blair outlined the first step in a phased withdrawal of British forces by declaring 1600 troops would return within the next few months. ....
