WASHINGTON, DC – Seven North Iowa and southeastern Minnesota housing agencies are sharing in $2.7 billion in federal dollars being awarded around the country.
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development says the grants to nearly 2,900 public housing agencies are to build, renovate, and/or modernize the public housing in their communities. Federal officials say agencies can use the funding to complete large-scale improvements such as replacing roofs or making energy-efficient upgrades to heating system and installing water conservation measures. ....

Wells liquor sales over $1.2 million
Sales end up over 50% higher than in 2019

The Wells City Council received some good news during their meeting last Monday night, Jan. 25.
The final report for the Wells Liquor Depot for 2020 showed total sales for the year up 50 percent over the previous year.
The final tally for the year showed total sales at the municipal liquor store were $1,241,528, which was $415,431 up from 2019’s $826,096.
After four months of increase from 2019 to 2020 in the $20,000 to $30,000 range, December came in with $48,542 more in sales than the previous December.
The best month of the year was May, when sales topped $139,000, which was $64,235 more than May of 2019. ....
