Norwell brothers complete Eagle Scout projects COURTESY OF LAUREL HOMER Brothers Jesse and Ridge Homer, both members of Troop 192, recently completed Eagle Scout projects aimed at enhancing the experience within Norwell Public Schools. Jesse Homer, 17, a senior at Norwell High School, finished his project last September, presenting a custom buddy bench to the Cole School and the Vinal School for their outside areas. Painted in Norwell blue and gold, colorful handprints and featuring the words of Dr. Maya Angelou, “Be a rainbow in somebody else’s cloud,” the benches are designed to encourage inclusivity and empathy on the playground. Ridge Homer, 16, a sophomore at Norwell High School, completed his project in April. Ridge revitalized an outside area of the school’s property which had become overgrown. Nestled among trees, he identified the space and revitalized it as the new Outdoor Clipper Classroom, a nature space for classes and groups to meet. ....
Registration to open for Norwell Recreation summer programs COURTESY OF NORWELL RECREATION Online registration for all summer 2021 Norwell Recreation programs will begin at 10 a.m. May 5 for Norwell residents only. Mail-in, walk-in and non-resident registration will begin at 10 a.m. May 12. Summer 2021 Norwell Recreation program guides will be delivered to all resident households and P.O. Boxes between April 15 and 17. Families are recommended to confirm account passwords, update existing accounts or set up new accounts prior to May 5 to ensure a smooth online registration process on the day of registration. Norwell Public Schools to open kindergarten registration Community Content Norwell Public Schools will be running both half-day and full-day kindergarten programs at both the Cole and Vinal Elementary Schools for the 2021-22 school year. The kindergarten program is open to all Norwell children who will be five years of age before Sept. 1 of each year. The Norwell School Committee will be setting the tuition rate for the full-day sections in the coming months. Based on best estimated enrollment numbers, the tuition will not exceed $4,000.
