Impact 100 of Indian River County selects 4 winners for 2021


INDIAN RIVER COUNTY  Youth Guidance Mentoring Academy, Crossover Mission, SafeSpace and the Veterans Council of Indian River County are the four winners of $100,000 grants from Impact 100 of Indian River County this year.
Six other nonprofits each will receive $6,000 merit grants: Youth Sailing Foundation, Childcare Resources of Indian River County, United Against Poverty, Ballet Vero Beach, IRC Healthy Start and the Pelican Island Audubon Society.
For the second year, awardees were selected via a virtual membership meeting April 22, where 78% of members voted either online or by mail.
Members viewed 5-minute videos from each of the 10 finalists and then cast their vote for the top four projects.  ....

Newly-formed group elevates art and South Florida artists

A newly-formed group on the Treasure Coast is trying to elevate art and artists while also supporting the local community.
Keeping the Arts Alive was created in fall of 2020. Its first event is called “Made in America.
“We’re hoping that the ambiance is beautiful. That people are inspired,” Beth Siebert, Founder of Keeping the Arts Alive said.
Siebert says her goals for the organization and its event have three prongs.
“One is to give a venue for artists to exhibit and to sell their work, two is to provide social programs and free art programs to the community, and three is to donate to a non-profit,” she said. ....
