Certainly not everyone in the Intensive Care Unit recovers during a “typical” month, but prior to the coronavirus pandemic, Patricia Scogin says there was always an expectation that
most patients would get better.
“There was some predictability,” says Scogin, an RN who will finish her second year as an intensive care nurse at Mission Trail Baptist Hospital in February. “With the exception of traumas, there were years and years of studies into the disease processes and we knew what interventions to do.”
With COVID-19, predictability is gone.
