Man Claims to be Hit By Car While Riding Bicycle

After a police investigation, it was determined that a man’s claim of being hit by a car while riding his bicycle may have been untrue.
According to an accident report from the Weatherford Police Department, the incident occurred on the afternoon of April 5 when, according to the juvenile female driver of a 2011 Hyundai, while clearing the intersection of Saber Lane and Terrace Drive, the driver noticed a man, later identified as being a Lawrence Sittingbear, on a bicycle in the driver’s side mirror. The report stated that the juvenile began to steer slightly to her right and stopped to avoid the bicycle from hitting her. She would tell police that after coming to a stop, the man on the bicycle struck her back drivers side door. ....

Weatherford man arrested for continuous sexual abuse of a child

Parker County Sheriffâs investigators arrested a 72-year-old Weatherford man Friday for the first-degree felony charge of continuous sexual abuse of a child.
Parker County Sheriff Russ Authier said the juvenile female victim made an outcry of sexual abuse by the suspect earlier this month.
The child was taken to the Childrenâs Advocacy Center of Parker County for a forensic interview where she identified the suspect and reported he sexually abused her over the course of several years and forced her to pose for child pornography.
Authier said further details of the case will not be publicly released due to the graphic nature. ....

Weatherford Woman Strikes Officer – Charged with Felony

A Weatherford woman has received a felony charge after allegedly assaulting a police officer recently.
According to court records, 38-year-old Tiffany Louise Bray is accused of the crime after a Weatherford police officer was dispatched to Weatherford Regional Hospital on February 26 after being requested by E.R. staff members due to Bray – a patient – being unruly.
A probable cause affidavit revealed that when the officer arrived he could hear commotion coming from one of the exam rooms. After entering the room he saw Bray standing near the door, speaking extremely fast, and her movements were described to be “jittery”. The officer proceeded to help the hospital staff calm the suspect down and place her on the bed. When Bray continued to be non cooperative, the officer attempted to help place soft restraints on the woman’s arms and legs. During this process, the woman would tell the officer to take her to jail. SWOSU Names New Endowed History Scholarship

Southwestern Oklahoma State University has announced that it will name the university’s newest history scholarship endowment in honor of the late Brenda Lu Lumpkin.
Lumpkin was raised in Weatherford and graduated from Weatherford High School in 1971. Brenda attended SWOSU and earned degrees in both 1974 and 1978. She taught at Weatherford Public Schools from 1975 to 1985. She then worked at SWOSU for two years, teaching counseling and assisting student teachers. Brenda continued to work as a counselor in the Clinton Public Schools system.
Lumpkin was a member of the First Baptist Church of Weatherford, where she was the university director for Sunday School. On May 30, 1965, she was baptized at the First Baptist Church in Butler. ....
