Former Swan Inn pub, Weymouth, changed without planning permission

CONCERNS have been raised that a historic and unique former pub - believed to be the only intact example of a 17th century coach house in Weymouth - has been altered without planning permission.
As reported, owners of the former Swan Inn at number 567 Dorchester Road are seeking legal acknowledgement to legitimise changes to the building, in respect of planning laws which state enforcement action cannot be taken after a four-year period.
The pub ceased trading around 2004 and changed hands two years later. Planning permission was granted for the Upwey Grade II listed building to be converted into a family home in 2007, but expired after works did not get under way. ....

Owners of former Weymouth pub use planning loophole

OWNERS of a historic former Weymouth pub are hoping that a planning loophole will prevent enforcement action from being taken over works to change part of the building into homes.
The former Swan Inn, number 567 Dorchester Road, ceased trading around 2004 and changed hands two years later.
Planning permission was granted for the Upwey listed building to be converted into a family home in 2007, but expired after works did not get under way - which the owners say is due to the financial crash at the time.
However, part of the building has been occupied by the owner and her family since then, with nominal work being carried out to convert an annex into a three bed house, a three bedroomed flat and a one bedroomed flat, to enable rooms to be rented to tenants. ....

Weymouth train station gateway criticised amid 'lack of support' from bus operator

THE proposed overhaul of Weymouth railway station has been slammed as a missed opportunity for public transport as it emerged that only two bus services will call at the revamped station - despite significant changes being proposed to the road layout.
The station gateway scheme is a joint project between Dorset Council and South Western Railway to improve access and make the area more inviting.
But town councillors have criticised First Wessex for a lack of support . The bus operator has so far confirmed that only two bus services will stop at the forecourt: the X53 to Axminster, and the seasonal 502 to Littlesea holiday park. ....
