Police investigating after pepper spray allegedly used on Vermont State House Lawn

Police in Montpelier are investigating after they said that somebody used pepper spray on the Vermont State House Lawn earlier Saturday.
The Vermont Capitol Police said it was not there during the alleged incident, but officers were made aware of the situation.
The Montpelier Police Dept. is investigating and said any video, eyewitnesses or statements would be greatly appreciated.

When a fire burned through a Northfield house last month, leaving several residents injured, Norwich students working as first responders put the service-before-self into immediate practice.
As Vermont Capitol Police Chief Matthew Romei ’98 recounted in a letter to Norwich President Dr. Mark Anarumo, Corps of Cadets Col. Michael Titus and Dean of Students, Martha Mathis, about 150 emergency responders from more than 30 agencies answered a call to a March 25 house fire off of Little Northfield Road in Northfield, Vermont. Romei said the fire response was complicated, involving many university alumni and five current students. ....

Vermont Officials Prepare For Possible Protests

Montpelier, Vermont is the smallest capital city in the country but it is not immune to the passions and controversies swirling over the departure of President Donald Trump and the inauguration of President-elect Joseph Biden. The police department is working with federal and state agencies to secure the city and Statehouse in the wake of FBI warnings of potential violent protests at state capitols across the country.
The FBI warning expects the protests to occur on the 17th and on Inauguration Day January 20th.  
The Montpelier Police Department is coordinating with the Vermont State Police, the Washington County Sheriff’s Department and State’s Attorney office, the Vermont Intelligence Center, Vermont Capitol Police and other federal and state agencies to make sure the building, grounds and people are secure. ....
