BSP had nil donations in '19-20, NCP got 60crore | India News


NEW DELHI: Of the two national parties whose contribution reports for 2019-20 were placed in the public domain by Election Commission on Tuesday, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has yet again declared ‘nil’ donations in excess of Rs 20,000, while Nationalist Congress Party’s (NCP) contributions have soared to Rs 59.95 crore, almost five times more than the Rs 12.05-crore donations it received in 2018-19.
Among the major donors to NCP, which is part of the coalition in Maharashtra, were B G Shirke Construction Technology Pvt Ltd (Rs 25 crore), Panchshil Corporate Park Pvt Ltd (Rs 7.5 crore), Covid-19 vaccine maker Serum Institute of India (SII) (Rs 3 crore) and Finolex Industries Ltd (Rs 1.25 crore). Only one electoral trust – Harmony Electoral Trust – contributed to NCP, the amount being 1.5 crore. ....

NEW DELHI: Almost 95% of election funds gathered by Tamil Nadu’s Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam in 2019-20 had come from electoral bonds the new mode of political funding which is under question in the Supreme Court.
As per the contribution data submitted by the MK Stalin-led DMK to the Election Commission of India, the party collected a total of Rs 48.3 crore in the 2019-20 financial year. Of this, Rs 45.5 crore came through electoral bonds, it said. ....
