What are the best high schools in New York state? U.S. News and World Report has released its 2021 rankings of nearly 24,000 public high schools nationwide, including 1,281 schools in the Empire State.
Five schools in Central New York made the top 100, led by New Hartford Senior High School for the third year in a row. New Hartford ranked No. 67 across the state with a 100% graduation rate and a 59.2 college readiness score.

LONG ISLAND, NY A total of 20 Long Island high schools were named the best high schools in the United States, according to a new ranking by U.S. News and World Report.
This year s list ranks more than 17,800 public high schools throughout the country.
Among those schools, there were 16 from Nassau County and only four Suffolk schools made the list. Jericho High School was the first local school to make the list, ranking at No. 15 in New York and 147 nationwide.

The purpose of the rankings is to provide insight into academic performance among underserved groups, showing how well schools are supporting these students, Anita Narayan, managing editor of education at U.S. News, said in a news release.
