Dhaka, Apr 27 (UNI) Foreign ministers of five South Asian countries- China, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will hold a meeting on Tuesday to discuss Corona situation.
China, which initiated the meeting has offered to discuss three issues including building a stockpile of emergency medical supplies. However, Bangladesh will insist on getting the COVID-19 vaccines on an emergency basis, Foreign Ministry officials said on Monday.
Senior Foreign Ministry officials told this correspondent that since November last year, China has been talking about cooperation with five South Asian countries in the fight against Coronavirus. Then on April 15, they announced their cooperation with three specific proposals. China s three proposals include building medical supplies on an emergency basis to tackle Covid 19, establishing a China Cooperation Center with South Asia on Poverty Alleviation and alleviating ....

Bangladesh shuts border with India for 14-day passenger movement: FM

DHAKA, April 25, 2021 (BSS) – Bangladesh will shut its border with India for passenger travel from tomorrow for next 14 days as the neighbouring country has been hit by severe surge of COVID-19 virus.
“It has been decided in an inter-ministerial meeting that our border will shut down for time being with India for passengers only, not for cargo,” foreign minister Dr A K Abdul Momen told BSS this evening.
He said the ban will be initially imposing for next 14 days from tomorrow due to sharp spike of coronavirus spread in India.
“We will reopen it in future,” Momen said, adding that moving of cargo will continue during this shutdown. ....
