Covid: Detailed figures emerge showing deaths at Clydebank care homes

There were no recorded deaths for Mount Pleasant House or Frank Downie House, which merged into the new Queens Quay House in November.
Martin Docherty-Hughes, West Dunbartonshire’s MP, said: “These figures are a stark reminder of the terrible toll coronavirus has taken on elderly care home residents in West Dunbartonshire and across the country.
“We must remember that behind these numbers are human beings, and each loss will be felt deeply by their families, friends, and those who cared for them.
“It’s critical that as we seek to learn lessons from the pandemic, the voices of all those who have lost loved ones are heard. ....

A DETAILED picture has emerged of how many Dumbarton and the Vale care home residents’ deaths were linked to Covid-19.
Privately-owned and council run facilities have largely been silent about how many residents died from confirmed or suspected Covid-19.
Figures were released by the Crown Office to the BBC under freedom of information laws.
About a third of Scotland’s 10,000 recorded coronavirus deaths happened in care homes.
West Dunbartonshire Council and the Care Inspectorate have never confirmed exact numbers at local care homes.
A total of 12 lives were reported to the Crown Office as having been lost at Castle View care home in Dumbarton, 11 at the council-run Crosslet House facility in Dumbarton, and 11 at Balquhidder House in Alexandria. ....

Queens Quay House in Clydebank welcomes first residents

Queens Quay House has opened after £14.1 million investment in the facility.
The building has one 14-bedroom flat and seven 10-bedroom flats with each resident having their own en-suite room, with soft furnishing in place to support residents with dementia.
All of the flats have been designed with a supportive colour schemes to assist those with dementia in helping identify with their home and in creating a warm and homely feel.
Allan Macleod, Chair of WDHSCP, said: “I am delighted to see the opening of this great new facility which will be enjoyed by residents as their new home. The high quality and careful design will bring independence to residents and reassurance to families that their loved ones are being cared for in a modern, comfortable and safe environment.” ....
