Wayne County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward for the person or persons who stole a black 2 week old angus calf from Christopher Gill. The calf was taken from property he rents. Call or text crime stoppers at 842-9777. An Indiana woman has pleaded guilty to staging her own kidnapping. Gibson County Judge this week ordered 24-year-old Hannah Potts to complete 120 hours of community service after she pleaded guilty to false informing. Judge Jeffrey F. Meade also sentenced Potts to 360 days in jail, but that was suspended to probation. Joshua Thomas, 45, and Maria Hopper, 35, also previously pleaded guilty and received probation. An Illinois Manufacturers Association initiative to create advanced training academies has come to fruition after two years. The new training facilities will be established at Heartland Community College in Normal, and Southwestern Illinois College in Metro East. Indiana Soybean Alliance Welcomes Two New Farmers to Board of Directors


Two new Hoosier farmers have taken a seat at the board table for the Indiana Soybean Alliance (ISA). Steve Phares of Albion, Ind., and Kevin Kelley of Brookston, Ind., joined six incumbents elected to the ISA board.
ISA is also welcoming two new non-voting members in 2021.  Purdue professor Dr. Bernie Engel replaces the retiring Dr. Marshall Martin as the board’s liaison from Purdue. And, John O’Donnell, ADM Commercial Manager with the Frankfort Oilseed Processing plant, was added as an additional ex-officio member.
Phares takes the position left by John Emmert, who passed away on Nov. 26, 2020, in ISA District 2. Emmert had planned to retire from the ISA board this year. C.J. Chalfant of Hartford City, Ind. was re-elected as a District 2 representative. The counties in District 2 include Adams, Allen, Blackford, DeKalb, Delaware, Grant, Henry, Huntington, Jay, LaGrange, Madison, Noble, Randolph, Steuben, Wayne, Wells and Whitley. ....

Wayne County’s second drive-through COVID vaccination clinic was held Friday morning at the Wayne County Fairgrounds and was well attended.  Gates opened at around 7 a.m., an hour earlier than scheduled, with reports of people lined up as early as 4 a.m.  Gates to the fairgrounds were closed around 7:45 a.m. once officials had a count of the number of people inside.  Vaccine vouchers were distributed Friday, and the department says it has chosen to conduct clinics in this manner due to the lack of staff to handle the volume of calls for a reservation-based clinic and still maintain core services elsewhere. ....
