DECATUR, Ala. (WAFF) - A three-year federal investigation said the Decatur Housing Authority discriminated against black people. Last year, DHA was ordered to pay a $200,000 settlement.
The new executive director, Taura Denmon, says she wants to put that behind the agency and move into a brighter future.
The federal investigation showed the agency had given preferential treatment to white applicants when it came to placement in higher-end apartments. DHA made a commitment to upgrade Westgate Gardens, where those black applicants were offered housing. ....

Shoppers returning to the city centre next month will be forced to pay Â£2.80 an hour for the pleasure of using Canterburyâs main car parks, it has been confirmed.
The 70p rise was one of a number of revenue-boosting measures signed off in the city councilâs annual budget last week.

River watchers are becoming increasingly fearful that homes and roads in east Kent could be flooded.
The Environment Agency is continuing to issue flood alerts for the Stour and the Nailbourne Valley near Canterbury after several days of rain and high tides.
