The Westchester Legislature on Monday unanimously passed the county s 2021 budget, which cuts property taxes for the second year in a row.
Overall, the budget reduces the tax levy by $1 million, meaning some county property owners could save next year.
Despite the pandemic s negative economic impact, the budget maintains all county services while cutting nearly $16 million in spending from 2020.
It also includes more money for certain programs like economic development, housing assistance, and food insecurity.
Legislators say they made the best of a bad situation.
We know that the need increased a great deal as a lot of my colleagues mentioned. Legislators are really on the front lines of seeing people who have never need services before need services this year, says Westchester Legislator Catherine Borgia. ....
