WITH THE HILARY TERM set to officially kick off today, some teachers and students will still be working without electronic devices.
General secretary of the Barbados Union of Teachers, Herbert Gittens, said while he had not received major complaints from teachers ahead of the new school term, which will be done virtually, the devices remained a challenge in some instances.
“The Ministry of Education tried to address it, because they would have sent out information to the teachers so that they can submit to them where they are in need of devices for the online classes,” he told the DAILY NATION. ....

BUT looking to meet with Minister of Education

The Barbados Union of Teachers (BUT) is waiting on Minister of Education Santia Bradshaw to meet with it concerning the new school term now set to begin January 18.
“Only yesterday [Sunday] I was in meeting with the ministry where we were discussing the guidelines for online teaching and the document is to be forwarded to the union. We will have a meeting [today] to discuss that,” said BUT general secretary Herbert Gittens.
“We are hoping the minister will meet with us soon as most people are still waiting on the minister to outline to the country the plans for this term,” he said ahead of last night’s televised press briefing by Bradshaw. ....
