This year's was held virtually. Two Isle of Wight councillors have been fighting it out to find this year's most prolific pancake tosser. Mayor of Ryde, Cllr Michael Lilley and Cllr Wayne Whittle went head to head once again in their annual challenge. The contest, which normally takes place at Ryde Foodbank, was held virtually this year because of the pandemic.

Two Ryde Councillors will go head-to-head in a pancake flipping competition today (Tuesday) to raise awareness and funds for Ryde food projects that have supported the community through the pandemic. The Pancake Day flip-off – which normally takes place at Ryde Foodbank, which it raises money for – will see Cllrs Michael Lilley and Wayne Whittle battle for bragging rights in the timed minute long competition. In a new twist this year, young people in Ryde will be challenged to have a go themselves and see if they can beat the winning total.
