A recent Senate Committee on Education hearing in the Texas Legislature revealed a fundamental divergence in our state’s philosophy of education. One senator admitted proudly the reason Texas has charter schools is to provide “pure choice.” Pure choice is not the prevailing narrative that we have been told. Many public school supporters have made concessions for charter schools so kids who are “stuck in failing schools” have an affordable alternative. But now we know this is not the end game. The end game is simply choice. ....
Top Story March 15, 2021 LAHORE: Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has said the culture of Punjab is rich in traditions and famous all over the world as it is deeply rooted in history. He was speaking as chief guest of a special ceremony held here at CM Office Sunday in connection with Punjab Culture Day. Participants of the ceremony were wearing traditional Punjabi turbans. Provincial Culture Minister Khayal Ahmed Kastro presented Punjab’s traditional turban to the chief minister. Buzdar gave traditional turbans to Khayal Ahmed Kastro and PM’s Adviser Barrister Shahzad Akbar. Addressing the participants, the chief minister said Punjabis have their own unique identity everywhere they live in the world. Celebrating and remembering culture and traditions is a sign of the nations which took pride in their history as cultural festivals reflect the identity and individuality of each region, he added. ....
ELKTON â Maureen OâShea is excited about the first Cecil County Agriculture âRooted in Our Communityâ event happening virtually this Saturday starting at 9 a.m. âWe have 75 people registered, which I am very pleased with being as this is a virtual event on a Saturday,â OâShea, Cecil County Agriculture Coordinator, said Tuesday. Rooted in Our Community was designed to teach folks not involved in Cecil Countyâs vast agriculture community about the origins of their food, especially by meeting local producers.
