Cruel vandals armed with a chainsaw chopped down an osprey nest a day after the protected bird laid its first egg of the season. The platform was chopped down overnight, sending the nest plunging into the waters below at Llyn Brenig reservoir in Denbigh Moors, north Wales in a horrendous wildlife crime. Springwatch presenter Iolo Williams has pleaded for people to come forward with information while a member of the public has offered a £2,000 reward if anyone has details which leads to a prosecution. By Press Association 2021 Osprey Police have said they are following up “a number of inquiries” as they hunt for vandals who took a chainsaw to the perch of two nesting ospreys in north Wales on Friday. The nesting platform had been set up by conservation programme Brenig Osprey Project in partnership with the North Wales Wildlife Trust. The platform was host to a breeding pair that had already laid their first egg. 1/2 Brenig Osprey Project partners woke up this morning to the worst possible news.
