Srinagar: Microbiology Department of Government Medical College, Srinagar runs a Covid-19 testing Lab which started functioning from March 14, 2020 and is conducting 1500 tests per day, Dr Anjum Farhana, HoD, Microbiology said the lab is a state of the art negative pressure lab BSL level (3) which was initially sanctioned and made functional in late 2017 as a molecular lab for influenza.
Proper sampling along with good lab practices will give accuracy of results, she said while adding that these labs are designed to work on organisms causing serious disease via inhalation and prevent infection to health care workers. ‘Our lab is functional 24/7 and with capacity to do nearly 1500 tests per day. We have till date tested nearly 3 lakh samples’, Dr Anjum stated. ....

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], December 11 (ANI): The CSIR-Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) and the Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Limited have announced a collaboration for joint manufacturing and commercialisation of an innovative dry swab test, Direct Amplification rapid RT-PCR (DArRT-PCR) - for SARS-CoV-2 detection.
The test that will be available across the country through the network of Apollo Hospitals, will focus on increasing the manufacturing and commercialisation of the tests jointly, a release issued on Thursday said.
As per the release, the DArRT-PCR test helps in rapid, safer and more cost-effective SARS-COV-2 testing. The centres collecting samples can send dry nasal or oropharyngeal swabs to testing centres without any requirement for imported and costly Viral ....

Hyderabad: People will now have another way to test Covid’s presence in their bodies. The city-based Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology and the Apollo Hospitals yesterday announced a tie-up for joint production of a novel dry swab test to detect Covid.
The test would focus on increasing production and commercialisation of the tests. They would be available through the Apollo Hospitals around India. The DArRT-PCR test permits for fast, safer and cheaper Covid testing, said Dr Rakesh Mishra, director of CCMB.  ....
