882 Covid Infected Cops Get Rs 5000 Each As Relief
SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police Director General has sanctioned Rs 44.10 lakh as special relief in favour of 882 police personnel of Jammu and Kashmir Police who had were t infected by the COVID-19, a police spokesman said.

“Since the outbreak of the 2
nd wave of COVID-19, the J&K police personnel have been working day in and day out in implementing the government directives to check the spread of COVID-19. Despite precautionary measures, many policemen on the ground are contracting the disease and getting infected. To provide them with some financial assistance DGP, J&K sanctioned the relief of Rupees 44.10 lakh in favour of 882 COVID affected police personnel,” the spokesman said. ....

Srinagar: Microbiology Department of Government Medical College, Srinagar runs a Covid-19 testing Lab which started functioning from March 14, 2020 and is conducting 1500 tests per day, Dr Anjum Farhana, HoD, Microbiology said the lab is a state of the art negative pressure lab BSL level (3) which was initially sanctioned and made functional in late 2017 as a molecular lab for influenza.
Proper sampling along with good lab practices will give accuracy of results, she said while adding that these labs are designed to work on organisms causing serious disease via inhalation and prevent infection to health care workers. ‘Our lab is functional 24/7 and with capacity to do nearly 1500 tests per day. We have till date tested nearly 3 lakh samples’, Dr Anjum stated. ....

COVID-19: Jan Mohalla Bandipora Declared Micro Containment Zone


SRINAGAR: Authorities on Saturday declared Jan-Mohalla locality of Kaloosa, Nathpora in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district as a Micro Containment Zone after five positive cases of COVID-19 and one death due to the virus was reported in the area, officials said.
An official told the news agency KNO that the decision to declare the locality as a micro containment zone was taken following the detection of 05 fresh COVID-19 positive cases and also a death in Jan-Mohalla Kaloosa of estate Kaloosa Nathpora.
An order issued by Deputy Commissioner Bandipora in this regard reads that it has become imperative, in view of detection of 05 fresh COVID-19 positive cases and 01 death in Jan Mohalla Kaloosa of estate Kaloosa Nathpora Tehsil and District Bandipora, to initiate necessary measures under Epidemic Disease Act, 1897 and Disaster Management Act, 2005 for immediate prevention of the spread of the virus and for the safety and prevention any harm to human life. ....
